At Studebaker Acres, we strive to provide high quality, locally grown produce for the communities of Fredonia, Chanute, Independence, and surrounding areas. We grow and make all our own products that we offer for sale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We set up at 3 different Farmer’s Markets each week, May through September:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fredonia: Tuesday 8:00-9:30 and Friday 4:30-6:00, FUMC<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chanute: Tuesday 5:00-6:30, Main Street Pavilion<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Independence: Saturday 7:30-11:00, Ane Mae’s Parking Lot<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Every year, we establish a Pick-Your-Own Strawberry Patch with over 10,000 strawberry plants. Employing an annual plasticulture system, we prepare plastic-covered beds each fall, plant the strawberry plugs, cover them for winter, harvest them in the spring, and clear the beds in the summer, all in a yearly cycle. This method guarantees the production of large, luscious berries while maintaining a weed-free environment that’s effortless for pickers. Typically, our strawberries are ripe for picking by May 7th, and the harvest runs until the middle of June.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to our strawberry patch, we cultivate approximately 800 tomato plants annually. Normally, these tomatoes are harvested from late June to early August, perfectly timed for peak freshness and flavor. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our Sweet Corn usually becomes available right around the 4th of July, marking the beginning of its short but sweet season. With a span of only a couple of weeks, this cherished crop delights taste buds with its juicy kernels and sweet flavor, making it a seasonal treat not to be missed.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Annually, we sow approximately 4,500 onions comprising of Texas Supersweet, Red Candy Apple, and Patterson (storage) varieties. These onions are available starting the first of June and remain available throughout the summer season, ensuring a steady supply of fresh, flavorful bulbs for our customers to enjoy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We grow a lot of other vegetables including Green Beans, Cucumbers, Peppers, Broccoli, Cabbage, Lettuce Greens, and Turnips.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to our diverse produce offerings, we operate a pecan orchard. Come late fall, we harvest the pecans, embarking on a winter-long process of cleaning, cracking, and processing them. By freezing the meats, we ensure that our pecans retain their freshness and superior quality, ready for sale throughout the year. Known for their exceptional flavor and texture, our frozen pecans far surpass anything available in stores, offering our customers a truly unparalleled taste experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
